Hi. I'm Jack Brame, and I'm a filmmaker from Houston, TX. I started making movies when I was a wee lad, short videos of my brother and I running around the house with Nerf guns. We made a lot of videos with that same general directorial vision. I used to edit them in Windows Movie Maker, which, looking back, was a pretty solid NLE at the time. Nowadays, Movie Maker has been updated to a very unusable, unintuitive software.
Anyway, we started amping up the production value of those videos, focusing more on shot composition and camera movement. Eventually, I had gotten good enough with Windows Movie Maker that I could upgrade to what was, at the time, Sony Vegas. And then to Adobe Premiere. I started shooting and editing commercials for small businesses. And then one day, me old mate, Zeb Lunz, proposed we shoot a short film.
That idea snowballed to become The Intruder, a 33-minute "long short" that was very ambitious for a couple 18 year olds. It scored a respectable 2/5 stars from UK Film Review, which set the bar comfortably low for my future projects. Since then, I've worked on commercials and short films, continuing to learn and meet talented people.
Recently, I finished a short film called The Grand Gesture, returning to my habit of trying to accomplish lofty goals. It's become my first award-winning film, accumulating recognition from several monthly awards festivals. I've got a bunch of exciting projects coming up, and I can't wait to bring them to life and show them to you all.
